Cold Start Or Late Start

December 4, 2009 Regarding work, would you rather have a cold start on a project or a late start. I'd would prefer a cold start because I like to input ideas to make the process more personable. A late start means I have to research what's been done and fix it before I can move on. What's your choice?

hi gitfiddleplayer long time no see. anyway he he he I am retired but I also would rather have a cold start on a project rather than a late start. When I did work and was late, I felt out of sync all dad, like I was not using but a quarter of my brains on work that required just a bit of thought. Normally if anyone else said that about me, I would get mad but I can say it about myself. We all of us get into a certain routine at work and when its broken it really set us back,at least it did me. I felt like I was chasing my job all day when I was late. go figure.cry angrythumbdown [Hatley]
I'm with you. I started making projects so I would have something to do and so I could be in control. I made some great changes for a few companies I worked with, I'm proud of what I've done. [gitfiddleplayer]

I agree...a cold start means you KNOW what is happening...a late start relies upon info from other people, and their data may not be correct... [The_Lamb_Lies_Down]
Yea, and if their data is wrong the whole project suffers. [gitfiddleplayer]

um..probably cold start. late start usually implies pending deadlines. [scarlet_woman]
I don't like deadlines either. [gitfiddleplayer]

I'd rather be involved from the very start. Why should I have to come in later and fix things? happy [fwidman]
You're on my team then. [gitfiddleplayer]

Definately a cold start..I don't like going around trying to figure out what someone else was thinking...it's much easier to do it from the ground up with total knowledge of what's going into the project. [jillhill]

A cold start for sure! Coming in late and trying to figure out what everyone else has done and what I need to do to fix is a lot harder than having a cold start. [JenInTN]

I would rather have a late start because I am very good at catching other people's mistakes, but am not comfortable having some else submit my work and then submit it without my review. So if I cold started and someone else late started on the same project, I would have to do twice as much work. [drannhh]
Good observation of yourself. [gitfiddleplayer]

I enjoy doing research and would probably like to do the project from the ground up so I would probably chose the later. Not sure on the cold start. I would love the research and would spent alot of time doing it. I am glad I don't work anylonger and that I never had to do such work when I did. Now I do it for myself and in my own way. [celticeagle]

I don't know, I work much better understand pressure but, I also don't like "fixing" other people's work. So, I guess I would have to take the cold start with a fast approaching due date LOL [ZephyrSun]

I would prefer a cold start. I like to figure things out for myself, and sometimes it is hard to figure out what other people have done and what was on their mind when they did it. I had a job once where I had to go through reports that were incorrect and I had to figure out where the errors occured and fix the problem. This was very tedious and not one bit fun. [ladym33]
I would prefer a cold start too if I had to do that kind of work. [gitfiddleplayer]

i agree i would prefer a cold start as well, it lets you get more familiar with the task at hand, and lets you input more ideas, plus i tend to break a lil when it comes to late starts which means you have more to learn or study or observe in less the time, so you tend to make minor mistakes and stress more easliy, when you realy dont need to. [WANDALIE44]
your welcome anytime... [WANDALIE44]

I think i will perfer a cold start too.. haha =D So that i can allow myself to think, or ideas to come out naturally as i'm doing certain projects.. IF there's a need for any changes, it's ok, for time is on my side.. haha =D If i end up with too much ideas, it's ok too, for i'm able to mix and mtach, to see which are the ones to go better together, in order to complete the 'masterpiece'?? lol =D lol [kun2349]
lol =D ANy projects completed are just like our babies.. U need to nuture them, before they can be the fruits of our labour and thus 'masterpiece'?? haha [kun2349]

I would take whatever start you give me! ninjaw00t But from anyone but you, I'd prefer a late start ... some of the work already done FOR me, giving me more time to take all the credit!lol [mythman]
Can't say for sure (in any way but 'the way ALL things work together' ... umm, we both contribute to the earth's gravitational pull? lol --- (Well that, & I'm also thinly-linked to Kenneth Copeland Ministries (who has an office in Fort Worth, Texas); and we operate with a lot of the same literature.) [mythman]

I have never had a job where I have had projects which right now I am a Cart Pusher at Wal Mart but I am hoping to get moved up so maybe I will get a job that has to do projects, but if I had to choose between a cold start and a late start I would have to agree with you,I would rather have a cold start so I would have time to brainstorm and make it more me,instead of having to fix the problems that have already been made and then brainstorm, and sometimes the problems you have to fix take so long it effects you getting the project done on time,or I figure that would happen. [hellcowboy]
Besides if you work with someone elses problems then you take the chance of getting the blame for something you did not even do,or you could get yelled at for not getting a sooner start on the project. [hellcowboy]

Hello my friend gitfiddleplayer ji, I think I am too late to response and I am time bar to start any thing now. But in case I too would have preferred o go along with you. Wishing you a very happy Chrismas and New Year-2010. May God bless You and have a great time. [maygodblessu44]
Hello my friend gitfiddleplayer ji, It's better to be late than NEVER. Wishing you a very happy Chrismas and New Year-2010. May God bless You and have a great time. [maygodblessu44]

I would have to say cold start. More often than not, when you get a late start, you are having to come in and clean up someone elses' mess and that can be very stressful. At least with a cold start you are there from start to finish and can make changes and fix things as you go along. Less stress is better, and if you are like me you will not present it until everything is as perfect as you can get it. God Bless! [change1life]
Some people like a late start, there are people who are starters and finishers. You sound like me, make it perfect, then present it. [gitfiddleplayer]
