I know their are plenty of other members besides myself that are on other social networking sites. Well, this morning I received a request on another social website I am on. The person had everything type in another language I can not read or understand. So, I denied their friendship and wrote a little note back saying why. I did notice that a very close friend of mine is on their friends list. I assume that is how they found me. Not sure. But I am wondering, do you accept people that type in a different launguage you don't understand on other social networking sites? How do you handle it? Don't get me wromng I am friends with people from other countries. But I do not see the point f being friends with someone because of the language barrier.

I hope the guy have done that inadvertently, unconcious of the fact that he was typing in his own language. LOL Anyway, if you can not make meaningful exchanges, what good will that be? If he can use English, which apparently he does, otherwise he will not be a member of the site, I wonder what his purpose is. Either I will deny the request or ask him "is this a joke or something?" enjoy [manong05]
I agree, if you can not make meaningful exchanges, what is the point? I did send a message. So if the person can understand English and request a friendship through english. Than I will except. [rusty2rusty]
exactly if ya cant read it how can you reply, and how can they read our's ? [max1950]
Thats very good question and I was wondering the same thing. [rusty2rusty]
Well I know exactly what you are taking about and encountered the same situation on another social networking site .In this case too I denied teh friendship of the pperson because it would have been difficult to understand the person and lets face ot the aim of these social networking sites is to communicate . [ronnyb]
Exactly...communication is the key. If you can't communicate, I don't see any point in connecting. [rusty2rusty]
I do accept them, but I'm not quite sure what's the point! lol [dawnald]
At first I was going to accept them. But than realize it was a foreign language, I decided not to. As I couldn't understand and to me..it would be like seeing spam on the social site. Why waste my time or theirs? [rusty2rusty]
I find it very difficult to accept a friend request on any social networking site where I can't understand what the person is saying. I speak only English fluently and I can stumble my way through Spanish and to a lesser degree, French. I've got many friends that are from foreign countries but we always correspond with each other in English because they were all taught English while they were in school. Were it someone with whom there was an insurrmountable language barrier, I too would have to deny the friend request. [dorannmwin]
Thank you. I am glad you understand why I denied them. [rusty2rusty]
Call me paranoid but...... I would wonder why someone who doesn't know me, doesn't speak my language, and has nothing in common with me would want to be my "friend". How could you effectively communicate? What would you talk about? I would proceed with extreme caution. [wlee9696]
At first i thought cool a person from a foreign country wants to be friend me. Than I thought wait a sec...no nglish. I can't understand them. Than I thought they could easily send me a virus or something and would not have a clue......delete. [rusty2rusty]
We have to expect all types of people here in the net. We also know the dangers and the consequences in all our actions. By just clicking the accept button even if you didn't understand what the person is saying might end up in a not good situation for you. The bottom line is "just be careful" and don't accept people who are trying to make friends even its written in English. And don't get hooked too much to people in the net that you do not know personally. By the way, that includes me. [Fulltank]
I do expect all types of people on the interent, Different type of person wasn't the issue. But you picked up on the caution side I was thinking of right off. Lol....just typing back and fourth and talking doesn't bother me. As I don't meet people off the net. But on a more social site where family and people I grew up with. Well, not that makes me hesitate as it would be easier for them to claim to know me or find more personal things about me. [rusty2rusty]
Hi rusty2rusty If someone would write like that then i would sincerely ask him/her to plz write something i can understand in english and if he/she can't write anything close to being understandable then i fear i will have to say a bbye sad . . . their is no point you see, but if the person is able to understand what i am writing and when i am barely able to make it what he/she is saying i would keep the friendship.happy have a nice day rusty2rusty!cool [voldrox]
hello rusty2rusty, i don't think so. thumbdownhow can i be his/her friend or accept him/her to be my friend if i can not understand crywhat he/she is saying. he/she should try harder to learn my language if he/she really likes me to be her/his friend. that way, we can understand each other and maybe well get along. that way we can have a better relationship. it's just fine maybe if there is interpretation right every word lolbut if not what is the use. [robert19ph]
Well, I can't accept friend who communicate me by their mother tongue except English because I can't understand. How can we get to know each other if we don't communicate well. [irene3184]
If I know them, I do. I used to teach in an international school and a good number of my students were Taiwanese, Korean, and Japanese. Naturally, their Facebook accounts are set in their characters. If it's a person I don't know, even if they use English, I usually just ignore.:) [wahmivy]
Yes I do to get to learn more about their culture. [hwoarangpoy]
