Do you dress for work in your own clothing or do you work in a place that you have to wear a uniform?
For years I worked at casinos doing housekeeping and the always provided a Uniform.
Most of the places even washed them. You just turn them in at the end of the day and change in your own clothe.
Now I work in a clinical environment and I wear scrubs.
I love them. They comfy and they have hundreds of cute different styles. You never get bored wearing them and you don't ruin your own clothe.
Do you have to wear a Uniform or have a certain dress code were you work?

we were given a golf shirt to wear at work but no one says when to wear it. we just dress in office casual to work and fridays we can wear jeans. [cher913]
What a good routine :) [meetpriyakumari]
I'm so blessed and favored that I never experienced wearing a uniform in our workplace, aside from the part time job I had when I was in college where I worked as a service crew in a fast food joint. I get to wear whatever I want, and I love to dress up. However, of course, we have a dress code. Fortunately enough, our company isn't strict about it. [personaave]
That's nice too but I would have a hard time and not enough clothe to wear if I had to wear my own. All I own are T-shirts and Jeans pretty much. [missybear]
I, like you, work in a clinical environment and get to wear scrubs every day. I absolutely love it! Our employer provides our scrubs for us, but on Fridays we can wear any kind we want with cute little designs on them. I feel like I'm wearing pajamas every day because they are so comfortable! It is definately hard to put jeans on over the weekend after wearing scrubs Monday through Friday. [cjfoust]
That's nice that you get yours provided. I bet you they are not as cute as your own though. They probably just the plain colored ones. [missybear]
I wear scrubs too. I am an in home aide, so we have to wear scrubs. They are really comfortable and not much different then pajamas, that I don't want to rip my clothes off when I first get home! In fact, they're too comfortable that if I'm not careful I fall asleep at work. [SomeCowgirl]
I wore a softer pair of pants the other day, I couldn't tell you the material, kind of velvety like lol. [SomeCowgirl]
Well, luckily I work from home. I do not need to dress up for work.I work in my pajamas. Sometimes, I dress up if I need to turn on my webcam for more sophisticated clients. But, since I am a fashionista I always wear my housedress with a flaire. [ilovechocolate]
good for you it saves on money for clothe [missybear]
Yes I wouldn't dream of going to work in anything other than my special work clothes. I am a beekeeper, and I look after 400 colonies of honeybees. I wear high boots and white coveralls, a wire veil over a pith-helmet and elbow length leather gloves. I can work all day in the bee-yards and seldom get a sting. I love my Job, and wouldn't trade with anyone. [barehugs]
That's very interesting, I'm scared of beessurrender. I didn't think I could run that fast til a bee comes around. [missybear]
never dress any uniform and i do not like the uniform at all.i like those comfortable clothes and not like to be locked in the suit and ties.but sometimes attend the meeting we have to dress up the uniform and that's ok i do not against it. [celebratelifeh]
So you can wear whatever you like that's good [missybear]
I have a uniform shirt but I have to provide the rest of my work clothes I do have a dress code that I need to follow but its pretty lenient I usually just wear black jeans and tennis shoes [wonttakelong]
That's what I wear year around minus the dress shirt. My favorite clothe for going out "Jeans & T-shirt" [missybear]
we do not have any uniform but we are required to dress in smart casual. No jeans and rubber shoes allowed. You can only wear them during Fridays. But now, I am a bum and do not need to worry about what I'll wear to work. =) No need to buy new clothes for me..haha [Mebgem]
Must be nicewink [missybear]
Hi Missybear, I am working in a office, so i don't need to wear a uniform when i go to work.I know many factories around our place have uniform, they are all blue or green or yellow, or pink. I actually like those lady dresses, like skirt or something. Hehe...i am envy you can were the scrubs, you can have 7 differnet dresses for the whole week!happy [vivianchen]
You can switch different pants with different shirts too, really fun to get dressed in the morning. Today will be the butterfly motivehappy [missybear]
Lucky you... This way you can save more money cos you don't have to buy outfits for work. I'd love to wear uniforms if I've to. I'm at HR department and enjoy this position somehow I've to look representative which means a lady like dress. [Asianne]
If you like dresses it's nice to dress up. I'm a jeans and T-shirt person. I own only 1 summer dress [missybear]
I never wore uniform. Not in school nor at work. I studies at public schools and it happened that uniform were never a concern. My jobs before entail me to work out of the office always and uniform was never an issue. I remember though that there was a time in my previous job that our executive officer declared a dress code (a semi-formal attire at the office) but I and my cohorts kept on violating it. Our reason, we have enough work clothes and we can't afford to buy new ones. Besides, there are no dressing rooms and lockers in the office where we can change to a more casual wear when we go out to work outside the office. We wear our own clothes cuz we just put together photo albums[eichs1]
We used to wear our street clothe to work and then have to change into a uniform at work. Sometimes that was a pain in the butt be course you had to get dressed twice in the morning. [missybear]
when i work,i should wear a uniform, this is rule of company.actually i dont like this uniform,it looks apron, when i wear it,i feel like cooking woman,so i dont like it,although our work is hard and make my apron dirty, because of yellow apron and easy fading colour,so it looks very dirty, specially when we wear this uniform and sale product to our customers,i find that it only destroy our imagin and company's imagin. [bingchen]
That's what ours looked like at the casinos. It was a dress with an apron. Uglythumbdown [missybear]
Hi, Missybear! happy I worked in a hotel before and I did wear a uniform, so, everyone would look the same. They makes us wear the ugly outfits they have but I don't care as long as I can play with my Star Trek Collectibles We also have our own Laundry Department, so, they took care of the washing and pressing. It's convenient and for the first few years, I love wearing a uniform, but after sometimes, I envied those who could wear their own clothes at work. So, after I resigned from the hotel, I worked with a travel agency. We have our company T-shirts, but we were not required to wear them daily, so, it's flexible. It's easier to mix and match, but after a while, I found that I have what to wear on the next day syndrome! lol There are advantages of wearing uniform or own clothes at work, but after experiencing both, I think I do prefer to wear a uniform especially when the laundry is provided. Save budget for new clothes and my time for doing laundry. w00t [corrycrystal]
That's the plus about wearing company uniforms, they do the laundry. Our uniforms were always ugly dresses. I'm glad I can wear scrubs now. [missybear]
Hi Missy, I am one of the more luckiest person to have the many more option especially in the dress code while the work, it is up to my decision to wear the suitable dress in the work place. Most of the times I would prefer to have the well attractive and professional dress in order to make others more happy when they are seeing me in the professional seat, so it is always better to have the good dress code in order to get more self respects from others. As you have knew that most of the times the dress would be very important than the human, because it is the one to bring more social status as well as good reputation among the other co worker in the same office.I have put on my own blue jeans everyday for 20 years doing Construction Equipment work.I wear all my own stuff even my Mens Tag Heuer Watches. Have a great day. [Binthu]
Sounds like you like to wear dresses. I'm more of a jeans and T-shirt person. I had to wear dresses at the casino I worked at . They were ugly and uncomfortable. [missybear]
When I was in the last company, we were asked to wear uniform. Then I felt so bored with the same uniform. Now I change a new job. There is no dress code for the dressing. We can wear casual clothes as we like. However, now I am inclined to wear uniform, because I don't need to think which to dress. [felicityjiang]
That's always a problem for me too, I never know what to wear for the next day. [missybear]
In fact,we have to wear a uniform during my work time, but it is not so strict,I think it is good to wear a uniform, first for my work,it makes us safer to wear uniforms, then we can save our own clothes because it is easy to pollute them during our work! [greenwbird]
It sure saves on clothe and doing laundry all the time. [missybear]
Hello there missybear! The university I am working for provides us clothing allowance. We have specified daily uniform. We are encouraged to wear our uniform daily. If ever we can't wear our uniform for any reason, we are encouraged to wear corporate attire. Thursdays and Fridays are different though. We do not need to wear our uniform but we have to wear something decent. [dolce_vita78]
We used to have casual friday and we could wear what we wanted but people abused it and worn clothe that were not appropriate for work. Now it's just our scrubs which is fine by me. [missybear]
Hi missybear! I do have to wear a uniform that the company provides. It is better because I don't mess up my normal clothes. All people have to wear it too. Even those that work in the office. It's kind of like a united front type of thing to potential customers and such.I do have to wash mine but they supply a certain amount of shirts and pants every year. [JenInTN]
At least you get a little help with new clothe. I guess they have to give you new once every so often. [missybear]
My first job in a fast food restaurant had me wear uniforms on the job. But my last four jobs in the call center industry just had a dress code that employees had to follow. I am not a keen dresser, but last year invested in some good pants and blouses. Well I work at a camp ground so they give us the fits and the camping gearI still prefer a uniform though because it eliminates the hassle of making sure your clothes are in style or in coordination with your shoes or pants or whatsoever. [anne25penn]
I wouldn't have enough clothe to wear to work all the time. It sure saves money having to wear uniforms. [missybear]
Well, did you love being in uniform always?Don't you get bored to remain in the same color all days? But it sounds nice that your dress will not be spoiled at all and you need not pay more attention to clean clothes. And you need not spend a lot on clothes.Yet,you can satisfy yourself by wearing colorful dresses after work time.Am I right? [srganesh]
I love it, it's fun to dress in scrubs [missybear]
it is hard when there is no dress code in work except i can't wear slipper and short! i can't decide what to wear, but i would go with a polo shirt to feed my work scope as i work in a reliability lab! [px_yeap]
Oh, so you wear a lab coat over your clothe anyways. I guess then it doesn't matter. [missybear]
I dressed for myself when working or going to work. We don't have common suits for us but we need to dress up our own style. Most of the time I used corporate dress and sometimes a casual wear. It is much easier and comfortable wearing the simple attire. It don't needs to make myself heavy with many things like necklace or something that can much with my suits. I am a simple woman with a simple needs in life that happy to wear a simple dress. Have a nice day!happy [mods196621]
That's like me, lot of people call me "Plain Jane" becourse I hardly ever dress up or wear make-up. [missybear]
I am still at college where we can wear our own cloths but i also have a weekend job where i do have a uniform because i serve people at functions and stuff. Its a weird uniform to be honest, like a chefs jacket thing but black with colored ends. Personally i think it looks quite good :D [adamc151]
As long as you like it who careshappy [missybear]
I work from home so i wear wat i want:) its the best thing mostly im in my Pjs all day long ;). [nixji316]
That's the best, Pj's and sweats [missybear]
i don't have any uniform at my workplace, hence i am free to wear my own clothing ,anything which is formal and decent.sometimes i do wish we had a uniform when my favourite dress gets dirty .but otherwise its fine [neo_matrix]
It sure saves on doing laundry and messing up your own clothe [missybear]
Because I work in a preschool, I am free to wear anything I chose, that is appropriate of course. But at the same time I have to make sure that I wear clothing that I don;t mind getting paint or glue or play-doh on. There is an ongoing dilemma in my closet because I'm not able to afford new clothes whenever I feel, so I usually end up wearing nicer shirts or pants and they eventually get stained. I'm telling you, about half of my closet have some kind of bleach or paint stain on it. I've tried the uniform thing and it's great if you like doing laundry. My employer doesn't provide uniforms so I had to wear my own but then I got tired of the children saying, "Ms. Ashley, why do you keep wearing that shirt?" ;) [MsAshley1085]
How funny, it would be nice if you could get some kind of clothing budget per year. [missybear]
I usually just wear my jammies, since most of my work is done from home lol...but sometimes I Do need to dress in business attire :) [4myboys]
you one of the lucky ones. Staying home and getting paid [missybear]
I wish sometimes that I did wear a uniform. But I guess thats the way the ball bounces, I have to think about want i'm going to wear everyday I hav to work. We have to dress business like, no jeans, sneakers, etc. I'm in a band so the only thing I need to bring is my electric guitar Very professionally. [hardworkingmom]
I'm sure that gets kinda expensive. [missybear]
Hey missy! I used to wear scrubs to when I worked at my medical jobs and I just loved them too! They were so cute and soooooo comfy! And yes, they did have so many cute ones! But, in my first job I wore only the white ones and then at my last job we wore only royal blue which were also laundered by the laundry servives and had our names on them! But, most of the years I worked I legal offices and we had to get "dressed up"! Some were more formal then others and it sucked! I hated having to wear "nice clothes or suits" and heels! Oh, God that's how I ruined my damn feet~ Wish I could sue the baastards now!lol [Opal26]
If I had to wear dresses and heals I would have to quit my job.whistlerasp [missybear]
Both of the places I work with, I use my own clothes. My own dress slacks, dress blouses, and button-up cotton blouses. At the drycleaners that I work at, we have the option of wearing a white button-up collared blouse OR their provided company-logo polo shirt. The clothes they make me wear suck they are black pink and green its a arts and crafts shop.I gladly choose the button-up blouse one, of course! I prefer to dress myself than have someone else do it for me. At Macy's (my 2nd part time job), likewise, we get to CHOOSE which of our clothes we want to wear..But we still have to follow their strict dress code (which is: you must dress in ALL BLACK!) So both of my jobs have dress codes but I just wear things out of my wardrobe that fit in to the dress code. And I've always wanted to wear scrubs!! They look so comfortable!! [maezee]
Sounds like you got it made. You can wear your own clothe as long as they agree with your dress code. Nicehappy [missybear]
I am a temp so all assignments I have been on, the dress code was always business casual which is cool cause I don't have to worry about wearing a business suit, dress, nor skirt. I usually just wear a nice shirt or sweater with black pants with some black slip-on shoes and I am good to go. I haven't work in a place where there was a uniform dress code though. [BinaryKat]
That sounds simple and nice. You can wear anything with black pants. [missybear]
hi missybear if I had to wear an uniform to work that would be the very moment when I would look for another workplace. I hate the mere thought of having to do that. We dress in our own clothes in Public Service, and thank God there are no dress codes. As long as your clothes are clean and preferably ironed its all right. [book1962]
Some Uniforms are so ugly. When you work at a casino everybody has a Uniform. Housekeeping Uniforms were usually these ugly dresses with an apron in front. Why would you wear dresses to cleanconfused [missybear]
I do not work, but my husband does. He does not have a uniform nor a dress code. He is a radio dj at a local country station. He wears jeans and a shirt. He is careful not to wear inappropriate things on his shirts that may offend people. I am glad that you are working. With the economy being bad it is great that you have a job. [randylovesdar]
That sounds like a cool job and Jeans and T-shirts are my kinda dress code [missybear]
I dress in my own clothes and THEY are my everyday uniform b/c I wear the same thing all that week. [ziyadahinc212]
Yes, I do!lol B/c my shirts get a little "ripe" if U know what I mean?! [ziyadahinc212]
The company I work for does not require its employees to wear a uniform to work. However, it imposes a dress code to its employees. In accordance to my company's dress code, I wear business casual/corporate clothes to work from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, we are allowed to wear casual clothes although t-shirts, shorts, slippers, sleeveless blouses and other revealing clothes are not allowed. The company I work for expects its employees to always look presentable and professional. [hrvillares]
People didn't comply with casual Friday at my Job so they cut it outsad [missybear]
