How Do You Leave Message To Your Colleagues

If there is a call for your colleague but he/she is absent. How do you leave a message? In the past I would leave it to a memo paper. Now I change it. I will leave it to his/her MSN so that when he/she is back, he/she will learn it. I don't want to waste much paper.

responses and comments:

Since everyone has their own skype ID, I would just skype the message down. It's quite realiable as it will display the time the message came in as well. That way too, the person cant say he/she didnt get my message cos if written on paper than I got no say. Agreed - less paper usage and save cost on buying memo pads. [lavender88]
Wow, Skype is also a very good softwarehappy [youless]

hi youless we are steering towards the paperless office and so in most cases I have to write a note via computer, print it out and either give to the department which scans papers or put it on my colleagues desk. [book1962]
It sounds like very complicatedwink [youless]

I usually send text messages through the cell phone to anybody including my colleagues if there are any. Through text messages it is easier and faster. I am not used to leave messages through the memo paper because there is a chance for the paper to get lost or something. If I really feel the matter is very urgent I would just give them a call through my cell phone. I think it is practical that way. Nowadays everybody carries a cell phone with him all the time. So I think this is not a problem. [ladysurvivor]
It's very kind of you use your own cellphone to contact with your colleagues. [youless]

i still write messages on a piece of paper and leave it on their keyboard. i dont worry about wasting paper, because we recycle old documents to use for such purposes. i would also leave a message on her email... then, i would also inform another colleague - just in case i forget the next day, i happen to be absent..lol [4mymak]
I think your colleagues shouldn't have an excuse to lose the messagelol [youless]

I do not put messages a such. if the colleague is absent and the call is also urgent, i would call them to give the mesaage. if not so urgent i leave it. [subha12]
Thanks for your response. [youless]

Well, i do not have a colleage in the office... but in the past... if that is the case... i just text him/her the message... so that wherever she is... she will know about it immediately... and act upon it if it is an emergency... i don't bother with paper anymore... since they tend to get lost all the time... [aseretdd]
It is not bad. At least you don't have to worry about how to get on well with otherslol [youless]

I use stick papers and write the message on that and stick it on their table or if it is confidential i will send a mail mentioning the message. But now a days due to mobile technology i can easily call them and provide the message immly as well. [rkrish]
You are very responsible and I can't see a reason that your colleagues will ignore the messageshappy [youless]

hi, youless. i either send him or her a text message or i will leave a note for him/her to see. i am afraid that most of the people in our office are old-fashioned, they only use the computer when they need to type something LOL! take care, friend. have a nice day! [Rainegurl]
Now I review all the responses as I am making the best response. I am so sorry that I typed a wrong word for my above comment to you. I want to say that you are a very up-to-date personlol [youless]

since i dont like sms i write in a small paper and paste on his computer. [bombshell]
This is what I did in the past. [youless]

I will send her an email or a text message or as you have said a message on one of the chatting programmes such as msn or others. © ronaldinu 2008 [ronaldinu]
It's a good method. [youless]

I'd rather text the person. Send an e-mail message or offline message on messenger. It really depends on what the person is using. A cellphone or laptop. And it depends on the urgency of the message. [izathewzia]
You are right. [youless]

my friends come online everyday and so i usually leave msg on orkut or ymail.due to internet we never call eachother as we know that we will come in connection at a particular time and then we can share our talks. [coolcat123]
Thanks for your response. [youless]

I will still leave a message on a paper anyway! As you know, Our MSN is not available all the time. They will possibly miss the message! If the call is very important, I will send him or her a message by mobilephone! [hiddenwing]
I can understand it. [youless]

Usually a post it note pad, or an email does the trick. Easy to use, and serves the purpose very well. I rarely use MSN to leave messages. MSN or yahoo messenger or any other messengers are usually left for chatting with friends. Or holding conferences with vendors who find it too expensive to discuss problems over the phone. [ahgong]
At least your office allows it. In my previous company, they do not even allow internet, much less messengers. SO the only connection to the outside world is the emails. The misery I feel and face when I reach the office. It was horrible! [ahgong]
