How To Ask For Your Salary

I know of a friend who is really shy about asking for her salary. Actually she already got her pay but she noticed that it was missing a few $'s and she's asking me whether she'll just let it slip or should she complain? I told her it's best that she complain or tell them about it because perhaps there was just an error on the computing and such. So, I ask you guys, have you ever experienced that? Having been paid a little short that what was actually talked about? How did you deal about it and what did you do? What do you do in these occasions?

Most people see it as a form of complain when we ask clarification to something. But I believe that your friend need to clarify and know why some of her earnings or salary is missing. If I am in that situation, and I observe that some of my salary is missing, I will run immediately to the payrol office and ask what happened. Of course, in a nice way with a smile!lol [learn2earn]
Well, that would have been the case for me too, but the problem with her is that it's already been days since she received it, and she didn't say anything! [laydee]

This has never happened to me but your friend should not be shy about asking for money she has earned. Like you said it could just be an innocent mistake but regardless of whether it was an honest mistake or deliberate, she is entitled to that money. We should never be shy or scared to tell our employer about mistakes in our paycheques. i think i am same as you friend,i felt it is not good to ask for my salary.i want they pay me judge my ability and experience.it should be the rule in mind each other.but if i know the boss is intentional to not pay me,i think i will ask.he is kind then i am kind too.if not, nothing i worry about. Hello laydee. One of my colleagues had some doubt about his salary and we encouraged him to let the administrator know about it and he went to tell him about it and got the right amount he was supposed to be given. I don't think that there is any need to feel shy for complaining about it once your has some doubt. Let them know and I am sure that they will check and confirm whether they have made a mistake or not. Encourage your friend to let them know about it. I wish her to make it with good luck. Oh yeah, I told her that, it's her money plus she has worked for it. I don't know anyhow if she already did ask them about it, I hope she did. [laydee]

Friend iam a webmaster and blogger and i just click cashout or payment request to get money. Keep mylotting [chimrani]

she must always understand one thing why you are here to work? because of money right? so should tell them the pay it seem that something wrong ask them do they mine to check on it. to be fair to your friends too.. few bulk ya can say is a litter money, but is a fairness when you work with others. if you don't voice up might one day they give lesser and lesser .. In my experience, whenever you bring up the subject of pay, it comes down to how you phrase the question. If you say, you just want to know why the amount this time around was shorter than last time, they'll usually be cool about it. I've seen people who walk in their with an attitude, all fired up, and typically by the end of day, the rumor mill is in full gear. Taking into account that the person didn't log in less hours, the problem will most likely be handled quickly. [jjstream]

If you want to know about my salary then "Be my wife then I would tell you what my sallary is." LOL! Jidding. Anyway, Did she sign an agreement or contract which mention her salary and did she get paid by cash? If she has been paid through cash then she must have signed a paper or something like that. Check that paper if the amount is same or not. In professional like you can't be shy. You have to be bold enough otherwise there are many blood suckers wandering here and there!angry [sanuanu]

Exactly, many people are shy to ask for their salary.I think this is not good.We should make clear about our salary, its our value for work.so it is no need to feel shy.Just ask why some of your salary is missing. [susiehappy]

well. i prefer to complain about this case. at least we have the right to know what happened to deducted our salary. that's my money. and hard work money. why need to afraid anything to complain about it? i know some people is really shy to ask others question specailly for this kind of complain.convinced your friend to ask and got the deducted back asap. Once in our company, the payroll gal was such a blur queen. Every single month she made mistakes. One month she forgot to key the reimbursements, the second month forgot to upload the overtime hours into the system. She got a lot of scoldings. I also scolded her, my taxi reimbursement for a trip was delayed and delayed. I was paid only 6 months later. She should count herself fortunate that we were in the same department. Otherwise I would complain to my boss. [scheng1]
That company is a shipyard where thousands of manual workers work. It's impossble to automate a lot of processes since most of the workers do not need a computer in their work. It is a waste of resources to allocate any computer for them to check their leave balances or whatever. The payroll gal was really a blur queen. She was very young, a fresh school leaver and not paying attention to her work. I sat just behind her and kept on reminding her about my reimbursement. She kept saying ok, ok, and all the time she dreamt of her boyfriend. After complaint by the union because she forgot to upload the overtime from the time management system to the payroll system, she cried and was much better at her work. Maybe she just needed some bad scolding and a disciplinary record to make her wake up. [scheng1]

Well,i know we'll make some mistake at time, same to the computer,if you got the salary less than what you work pay,you must say to finance department. [shirley183]

I think she should tell his boss about this. It's unfair to her.She works and gets paid.If she lets it slip, her boss never knows what happened. And maybe this is a computer error that many her workmates have experienced,so this is not good for everyone. As the days goes by,she will lose a large sum of money. It's terrible! Hi laydee, for me i will deal with the person who count or do my salary, i believe that was a human error on counting, ask the person who done salary to prove that the calculation of salary and so on ... if that was a human error, ask for claimed it back, or else maybe that a deduction on late to work or so on , ask for proven of the salary deduction in gentle way. That was not a shame for a claims back for the lack for salary. It yours own money. Happy Mylotting. [prowaynie]
