Is just a question, but is a good idea too, to see what ideas peoples have about a small business. So...if somebody give you this money 10,000dollars, what you will start? A small business of course...i will start to make a business with flowers, or with antiques...don t need so much money, and peoples need to buy flowers for any ocassion, and are peoples who like to have in theirs home a antiques...of course that my choice is because this 2 business i like more...and is a hobby for me too...and all what we make with soul, will be the best.

HI, I live California and the rent for business is expensive. $10,000 is not really enough to start small business to me... but if someone this me this much then, I might thinking about nail salon. very small one or share place with other. However, I am sure $10,000 is not enough. Another choice is invest in cars, I will let my buy cheap and realizable cars to sale. it might make good money if u know how to deal with business and all u have to invest $5000 at a time. Ten thousand is not nearly enourgh to start any of the businesses that I would actually know how to run. Or at least none that require a brick and mortar location: restaurant, book store, occult shop, art gallery. Of course, if the money was handed to me right now, I would sink it into my current business: freelance writer. Ten thousand would actually allow me to get a new computer, so that me and my wife could both be on the computer at the same time; in theory, I would get more writing done. There are a few other things that I probably need also, like a top tier website. Ten thousand would not even last in my current business long. I have to agree with you when did ten thousand become such a small amount of money. I remember when 1500 was a small amount now it is like ten thousand is pocket change. or it is supposed to be, they say per person you are supposed to have 12000 saved up for every person in your household, in case some loses their job. I already have a secondhand business that I run from my home, and if somebody gave me a pile of money I would rent a store front and open a regular secondhand store! It would be great to have a place to keep all this junk instead of cluttering up my house with it, and customers would have regular hours to come around and buy my treasures. Since I live in the USA it would be impossible to start a business. The rent alone for one month would be more than that. I would maybe invest half of it in a money market and then get a new bed(much needed) and a microwave oven(much wanted). I would get a hair cut for me and my mom and then prepay both of our electric bills for a few months. I would also make a donation to a well deserving group. [muscles4me]
Yeah, storefront rental is outrageous here in the USA, no mattter what state we live in. Plus they want a year (at least) contract, with penalty fees if you break the lease. I know one business owner that was running his business at a loss (so wanted to close shop) because it was cheaper than breaking the lease that he signed. [morgandrake]
If someone was to give me $10,000 dollars I would start my own computer repair store but also have a printing service as well. I would repair and fix computers but would also make house calls. A service that I would also like to provide would be a printing service as a person might need business cards made or if they need flyers or even a poster printed out. I have majored in computers so I am very well versed in all of these fields. Well, I have not given a thought to such a thing . However,if given such an amount; I shall first start with some kind of local dealership for some low cost products .I shall also invest some amount into Commodities as well as some stocks to first get some good returns and also put the rest in some fixed deposit or savings account . If I am able to increase this money to say 14,000 dollars also ,I would consider investing more in the Dealership and also buy a house to rent it out later . i would open a used furniture store. i live in florida and you would not believe the nice furniture people put out for garbage. i have found nice wood items and refinished them and sold them in my yard sales. i would pick up stuff and resell them.so the money would just be for the initial start up of the business like the building and a few trucks......maybe someday. I'd probably start a novelty shop or gift shop that sells handmade crafts and the likes. My sister is an artist and we used to make this small personalized things and sell it at school. Another option will be a furniture shop. Duh digital camera cost a lot of money so that would be the best to run.
