Its friday and its dress down day .By that I mean that its a day when you you get out of suit and ties (well for me its shirt and dress pants,I hate suits and I hate ties)and hop into jeans and Tshirt or oxford shirt. The Tshirts and oxford shirt however, have to have the company logo on it .
My issue though is that my company is asking me to pay for these shirts which they get logo-ed because I am thinking that this is advertisement for them and its free so the least they could do is buy the shirt and give us .
What say you?,am I being cheap, after all this company has been paying me for seven years now.Should I just consider this a giving back excercise and wear their logo with pride for free ?

No you are not being cheap! They should be giving the shirt for free to their employees in recognition of their hard work. Happy employees are what makes a company successful. [whiteheather39]
Thank you for seeing things from my point of view, cause I was wondering if I was being stingy [ronnyb]
GOOD MORNING RONNYB, I think if the company wants you to wear a shirt w/their logo they should furnish them. Hope u have a great weekend. [ANTIQUELADY]
Thank you I had a great weekened and yes they should furnish them ,hope you had a good weekend too [ronnyb]
The company has been paying you for work that you have been doing, is it not? Then why should you pay for advertising their logo? Let them give these Tshirts to their staff for free. [trixyteddy]
Thank you very much for that answer ,I totally agreee with you [ronnyb]
I agree with you. I have worked at companies in the past that had logo t-shirts. However, they did not ask us to pay for them. I would not have paid for one either. So what happens if you dont buy one??? Can you just wear something else??? Or take the day off??? Tell them you can afford to buy one! LOL!!! Maybe they give a raise?!?! This one company that gave us the tshirts. I still had the shirt after i quit that job. I liked it because it was green. I would wear it inside out. I had grudge. [jdyrj777]
I would just tell them sorry im not buying one. [jdyrj777]
I worked for a company that had a similar policy. I didn't agree with it. I know it shows 'team' spirit that everyone wears company logo-ed what nots, but it shouldn't be manditory that you can't have a casual day if you don't wear their shirts. Some companies just do it so they can boost sales of their own products and think that if the shirts are nice that others outside the company will want to buy them too. Yup, it's free advertisment. I don't agree with it, never did when worked for that company i did, but there wasn't anything I could do about it either. LOL, once, i did wear a t-shirt then put a button down shirt over it to cover. They asked why I wasn't wearing their logo-d shirt. I unbuttoned my top shirt and said well of course I am, see. rolleyes [kprofgames]
Lol you tricked them all right that time .With regard to their policy ,theyare just looking free advertisement for their products as well as the shirt [ronnyb]
I don't think you are being cheap at all! You get paid for work that you do for the company, they are not giving you anything for nothing so why should you walk around advertising their business at your expense? At my old work they had uniforms for sale and they were not compulsory but myself and another lady were told we had to wear one every day because our job was on the reception desk, so we protested and asked that the company pay for the uniform if it was obligatory to wear it. They said no at first, but after a few staff meetings and more complaints from us they relented. If it is compulsory they should pay for it in my opinion. [paula27661]
That is what I say too,I ma paid for the work, why should I pay to advertise their clothes [ronnyb]
My company wanted us to wear company logo-ed shirts for whenever someone "important" was in the building. But they didn't make us pay for them..i don't think I would have. If they want you to wear them, they should just give them to you. I don't think you are being cheap! [Munkeechio]
I know what you mean. You just want to wear whatever feels the most confortable for you on that day. I guess I would go ahead and wear the logo tee though, to show the company the respect they are wanting from their employees. Good luck! [stephcjh]
You must wear them on your working days, but on holidays, sundays...it should be free for you to wear anything or nothing, haha [aokjob]
Ok,you are not cheap.Maybe you can propose some suggestions. In general,it's hard for employee to accept such thing.Obviously,it's unfair.I believe you can win the support of many people. So ,to tell your company your thoughts. [xizhilang]
I do NOT think you are being cheap at all. No doubt your company bought ALOT of those shirts so they played closed to nothing when you figure out how much each one was. I think they should give you the first one but if you damage it you should pay for the next one. I bet they bought 100 shirts and it probably cost them $200 so they paid $2. Hey you could make them a deal and ask to see the invoice with the prices on it and tell them you will not pay more than they paid! Good Luck. [muscles4me]
i think the co. should pay for your shirts too if they tell you what you can wear and what not to.it is free adversting!People should stand up more for their rights. [anniefannie]
well we have golf shirts to wear for those days but our company gave them to us for free. i guess if they want you to wear them, they should at least give you one for free. why not? it IS free advertising for them as you wear it to and from work. [cher913]
You are not being cheap,This is a stupid rule .Being my spiteful self .I wouldn't dress down on Fridays until the company gives out the t-shirt for free. This sounds like fascists thought up this rule. Dress down means being comfortable for one day not pimping the company. I'm sorry,My rant is over. [sarahruthbeth22]
