Venting

I had a bad night at work last night, I put in a vacation request and didn't even see if it was approved. I am screening my phone calls because I am not answering anything from them. So far they have called twice. One message was from the department manager, saying that the supervisor was not at work today and my vacation wasn't approved I need to call and we can handle that situation if not I will be counted as absent. Well counted as absent it will be. I am not going to call because no matter what I say is going to matter to those people if I answer he will tell me I am scheduled to work to night. I am not going to work until Monday I don't give a hill of beans what he says. I will cross that bridge when I get to it. I have a perfect attendance record. I was not a problem when I was on first shift those creeps just threw me on the night shift with any options. I just had to vent thanks for reading..Any response will be appreciated.

Sorry about you're situation at work. They do that 2 me 2 at my work throw me on all these different shifts. Sometimes they ask me other times they just put me on it it's like UGH could ask me first....Its hard 2 make plans wit my job cuz the scehdule changes all the time and we are short staffed n they switch ppl around like nothing...But I hope u don't get counted for being absent and they mark u as ur on vacation since u did request it. I would print that copy out n show them that u did send the request so they dont deny that u didnt. Hope ur day goes better at work on Monday. Take care! [Blondie2222]

Since you have been a valued employee with your attendance record I should hope that they will overlook this absence and move on with things happy In the meantime, I wouldn't answer the phone either, not until Sunday night at least lol [fwidman]

oh oh why am i nervous for you ? are YOU nervous for you ? what if they call you and tell you if you don't come in then instead of crossing the bridge you can bloody well jump from it ? what will you do ? [MOMMASAM]
your employment history is basically spotless then. so, i applaude your not worrying and not answering the phone tonight. no matter what, i hope they don't give you a bad time. [MOMMASAM]

Hope you feel better come Monday. You know this is the place to vent when you need to. [myklj999]
They better be glad I am not a cussing person, I would have thrown some words at them that never have heard before, it not over yet. [Chevee]

yes, chevee, good for you! i know thats why you getting these headaches. they are caused by not enough rest!! thats what happens when your schedule changes that fast. [bunnybon7]

Good for you, It really helps to stand up for yourself.. It might have been a bit better if you had have answered the phone and then told them what they could do too themselves, but than again, that might have hurt more than it helped.. Take a deep breath and enjoy the weekend, leave it all with them to worry about.. I use to get physically sick from my job, I no longer work for anyone and I am so much more relaxed and much less stressed because of that.. Good luck to you whatever you do.. [DonnaLawson]

Hi Chevee, Well you know what to say to them if the complain, you can say the place will still there when you feel fit to go back, you don't have to take their garbage they come out with so stay put till Monday maybe they get the message, so gon on vent as much as want we'r all ears. Ohhh, so you are in your stubborn state and fighting mood! Well that is your prerogative! Sometimes, if we have already set our heart and mind that we are taking a vacation and then something blocked us along the way, we really get mad and we don't give a damn and still pursue the vacation no matter what! I understand you pretty well. Go girl, you are entitled to that. If they marked you as absent then go they could! Who cares, after all you did apply for a vacation leave. You did not just absent yourself without a note. It is not your problem if the Supervisor was not at work. Why she could not work but you cant? That's quite unfair. Ok dear, I am tolerating you! I understand your sentiments and I believe in your principle. Have a nice vacation! [salonga]

i'm so sorry that you have to have a hard time with your workplace... if you think that you are doing the right thing and your manager is at fault, then stick by it... you don't have to come to work if you already apply for leave... but again, it needs to be approved by your manager before you can really take it... that is the rule in my company... as long as my manager hasn't signed the leave form, it is not approved yet and i still have to come to work... good luck anyway... take care and have a nice day... [lingli_78]

chevee I am sorry you are having trouble about your vacation, but in the current job market, I would be careful about pissing off your manager as its really hard to find commensurate jobs right now. my son is a good example, he was fired three weeks ago froma dispute now he is still looking for a good computer programmer jor with a zillion bills p;iling on us.So keep your job and if you really hate it search for a better one while you are still working, then walk in and say take your job and shove it as I have a new job. good luck and God bless. I don't blame you, it seems to me that when your one of the companies good workers, that treat you like dirtsad, they try to make life hard for you, and they will do any thing to have you quit, angry or fire you don't give into the company. [notlistening2]

I understand how you feel. They say you are entitled to vacations but when you ask for your rights they say no, or can you take it some other time. I used to get so angry at work that my vacation requests were always knocked back or postponed to a time that made them happy and always made me unhappy. I got sick of it. Then I hit 10 years service and I had long service leave owed to me. I read the rules that if I gave them 6 months notice they had to give it to me when I asked for it. So I did. I gave them their notice and I took my 3 months at the one time of the year that they would never let me have holidays. Yes I was feeling vindictive. My first summer holiday in 10 years and they hated me for it but they could not do a think about it. Sometimes revenge can be nice. I had a lovely summer holiday. For 10 years they would only let me have holidays in winter. Then I resigned while I was on my long service leave giving them enough notice so they could not do anything about that either. I had known for a year that I was going to quit that place because they were making me unhappy and I had told my work mates that I was going but the bosses did not take me seriously. It turns out that the job also made me sick but I did not know it at the time. The first signs of my illness did not show up until 6 months after I left. Too much stress for too many years had long term effects. [sharra1]

Yours is ok for now, but some of the worst boss you had not seen it yet. [k1virus1978]

From what I understand at my work place, the only thing they can do is not pay you for the shift you took off. You are right they can write you up. I'm sure with your record they won't do either! We have to give two weeks notice to get any vacation time. But it depends on your companies policy. I hope it works out for you. [pinkpassion5]

I am SO lucky that I've had a job for the past 9 years that pretty much allows me to come & go as I please. As long as I'm there when we're in production (I work for a publishing company), then they don't care. My immediate boss & I have a really good working relationship, so as long as he doesn't have a problem with it, nobody else does. He DOES tease me about my annual trip to Vegas, because a lot of times it runs over into the first couple of days of production, but it's the only time I'm ever gone longer than a day (and I play the roulette wheel for him), so he doesn't complain. Hello Chevee Don't those nitwits realise what they are doing to you? I agree with you...we all know the story, you are a good employee and they are dragging their feet to approve your vacation time. Well, more power to you I say. Oh yes, and switching shifts on you is really not good. So that is what they get...good for you and have a wonderful vacation Dear Friend. xoxoox [OceanTiara]
