The issues that I am trying to get at is if you work because you have to pay your bills and other expenses or do you work because you are motivated by a deeper need to contribute to society ?
I am thinking for the former wouldn't resign from their job the day they won it and head off on a world wide cruise. I am thinking that such persons would spend their time lounging in the sun in some exotic locations drinking margaritas and applying sunscreen. Maybe they are those of this group who wouldn't resign but they would suddenly start putting out even less than they used or start coming to work late and eventually get fired since they don't need the job.
Those who are motivated by work though would continue as before ,maybe they would get a nicer car ,nicer home and a few extra amenities but their work ethics wouldn't change. They would come to work the same time and put out the same effort

That question made me think a little.I doubt I would ever win lottery since I'm known as the person who spends$100 and wins 10 but dreaming is still free,right? I would definitely keep working,maybe switch to part-time or take a bit more vacations. Becoming instantly rich sounds like a great opportunity to finally find a job that I would love and keep no matter what.Probably something that would make me use my brain in a creative way which I haven't done in years. You have mentioned a good point that many persons ignore in the joy of becomming rich and that is that doing nothing can sometimes be a drag.Sometimes our poverty stricken lives can be more excting than having a lot of money .Atleast we have a scehdule and that keeps us going [ronnyb]

I don't really play the lottery anymore but if I did and actually won I probably would still but it would be my own business something that I want to do. I would probably get a few nice things for the house maybe remodel and a nicer car. [christylynn]
Me? No. I'm a homemaker and I enjoy it. I'm here for my sons. My husband? He'd better not quit his job! He'd drive me NUTS! If he has a couple of days off in a row then I'm about to push him out the door! He gets bored easily and he doesn't read like I do. He gets bored watching TV. He doesn't play video games. I feel like I have to entertain him or something, especially when the weather is bad. Time to sing and dance! lol He'll go outside to the garage and tinker with the cars or something during the summer, but during the winter or on rainy days he's under my feet driving me nuts. He might not work the same job (although he seems to enjoy this one since he got out of the Navy) but he'd have to do something or drive us both bonkers with his boredom! [lisado]

i would not continue my work if i won the lottery ronnyb.. instead, i'd put a half of my money in the bank(and have it double my money thru interest), then put up a charity foundation. that's a new work that i'd like to try. i heard it is fulfilling.. take care :) [darianne]
I would continue to work, but more on a volunteer basis and for a needed charity. If I didn't have to work because I won a multi million dollar lottery, my first choice would be to contribute to the community. I would take more time to enjoy the finer things in life, particularly nature, family and friends. I would not continue to work to only start coming in late or doing less on the job. My work ethics would not change but my line of work would. I would likely put in more effort since I would be working towards helping those in need. [EvrWonder]
I've often thought about it and my answer always was that I'd continue to work. (Not for the money ... if I won I wouldn't need it) But lately I've rethought my options. I know that I'd upgrade my home. I already have it picked out. And, as I get older and realize that time is 'awasting, I'd find other ways to keep busy beyond working. No ... if I were to win tomorrow (or even tonight) I'd replan my future and work would not be a part of it. Good question, immediate response is no, but I think I would, preferably less hours :O), but with the economy I am one of 8 left out of a 40 + who have lost their jobs. Tough question, always difficult to know for real when it doesn't happen. I think I would stop working and travel a lot though, at least for a while. There are so many places, countries that I would love to visit and I don't do it because of money. I would also like to live in some countries for a while just to try. I don't work at the moment but I would get a bigger house and have a cleaner,not a maid as I like to do things for my self,my husband would hand his notice in at work because like he says he enjoys driving his lorry and he has no axe to grind.We would buy a bigger house ,have better holidays.Our youngest son is at a crucial stage of his education and is starting his A levels in september for two year, so my husband would still have to work,he would probably find a business opportunity and invest in a few things.I cannot imagine for a hundred years my husband could stay at home without working,he would go round the bend so thats what we would do,then when my son goes off to university in a couple of years, we will go round the world and laze on those sunny beaches we might even come out to Jamaica and stay with you,and you could show us the sights. If I won the lottery and I didn't have to worry about having a job to pay my bills, I will still work... but it would be volunteer work, or a FUN job (like at a pool or a gym or coffee shop or clothing store) that pays minimum wage. Even if I were rich, I would probably still have a hard time spending money foolishly - like on lavish vacations and super expensive clothes, cars and houses. I am presently unemployed, but if I was working and hit the lottery, I would not continue to work. Assuming I won a lottery prize.........(How I wish..) It would be dumb to keep the same just selling Home Accents I would still go to work and do my usual routine. Maybe it is true that am motivated to work to sustain my daily living, but having a work is likewise a self-satisfaction to those who are challenged holding tasks. Besides, even the rich people still goes to work though with higher positions or invest into businesses which is still considered a work. No one can stop me from working even if I won a big big sum of money, let us say an amount that provides my future. However, money can be lost if you do not know how to make use of it in a more appropriate or indispensable manner. I would perhaps give myself a pamper - like travel or have a cruise, but I will not do that all the time and waste the money for unnecessary luxury or pleasure. It would be good to get into the Affordable real esate game if money was around. I will still go to work everyday, yet I would invest the winning prize for my top 5 necessary things. I would buy a house that is comfortable to stay on to save for monthly rents staying on apartment (am living independent on a City, that's why).. I would still work. I would still learn. I would still go to college and take courses. In between, I would spend my money on travel and building new houses for myself and all my family, etc. Part of my work would be trying to find worthwhile causes in this world to donate some of my win to. Hi ronnyb, if I were to win any of the first three prizes of the lottery and get a huge sum of cash, I think I still would like to have my work as before. I love my two current part time jobs as well as some of my colleagues. It is always to have great fun by chatting and joking while working together with nice people harmoniously, though sometimes we are pretty busy with our work load. I would just acted in Musicals for the rest of my life if I won. We would feel excited and happy with the great amount of money received. Of course we would spend some of them having long traveling visiting dreamed countries. Or buy an ideal house and auto. Definitely I would feel bored and monotonous after enjoy doing these for some period. I persist to continue doing my office work though I possess great amount money. It would depend on how much I won, if it was a lot then I would not work I would just enjoy life to the full. If it was just a bit then no I would not give up work I would just invest what I had won somewhere and build it up. [gemini_rose]
I would still work with children, in child day care or once I get my diploma as a pedagogue. I might cut down on the hours though and work part time, and/or do volunteer work. Working with children gives me a good feeling and I like what I do, but like you said I would get a nicer appartment, big ol' climbing pole for my cats that covers an entire wall lol, that type of stuff. I would spend my days messing with Home and Garden Filters if I won the money. And I would donate an amount to charity, for research conceirning cancer and cystic fibrosis.
